Orphan X by Gregg Hurwitz
Genre: suspense
Vibes: hypermasculine Bourne-type guy
Why it’s amazing: the character arc is unparalleled
I have a lovely friend, Amy Jo Cousins, who is as smart and diverse a reader as anyone you’ll ever meet. So when she recommended this series, I picked it up in spite of the fact that white dude dark ops assassins aren’t really my style.
And now I’m, what, nine books in?
I also love the way Mr. Hurwitz is so good at putting his finger on all of society’s pain points. Everything we’re afraid of shows up in here somewhere, usually in a thoughtful and still edgy way. It’s fantastic.
