What’s your word for 2024?

Not everyone loves this habit, but I always choose a word of the year. I try to choose something that focuses my thoughts. (Insert laugh track. As if my squirrel brain can really be controlled.)

Some years it’s made sense to choose an ambitious word like HUSTLE or FOCUS. Sometimes we need to recognize our own power and invest in it.

For 2024, though, my word is ABUNDANCE. And I don’t mean I’m seeking it. I mean that it’s already here. I have a healthy family and good job that I love. So it doesn’t make sense to wake up every day and feel the crushing weight of my (cough December 1 cough) deadline, or get flustered if someone leaves me a bad review.

I need to recognize that things are going really well. I need to relax more and share more and enjoy the good things while they last. More generosity. More understanding. Less comparison. More yoga.

That’s the goal, anyway! I’m going to write it in my notebook, in nice big letters.
